The Sword of Wallace article also says that the sword is difficult to date. Which means it may not be Wallace's sword. That sword may have been created as a result of Blind Harry's poem. Which was written about 170 yrs after Wallace was dead. So much of what he wrote was passed down orally, which is unreliable, the rest came from his own head. The claymore was a sword used in Blind Harry's time and may have been used as a description. Also the word claymore is a more modern word, see article. More than likely we will never fully know what William Wallace was like, or what weapons he chose to use in battle. Unless somebody invents a time machine. So really the point becomes moot as various scholars come up with an equally various amount of theories and beliefs.
